Extractions

Going to the dentist to have your tooth pulled can cause high anxiety and fear for patients. At Parkwood Dental, our extraction surgeries are performed with expert care.

Parkwood Dental has locations in East Bradenton and West Bradenton in Florida, and is led by Dr. Oscar Hernandez. Contact us today to schedule a consultation and find out more about our extraction services.

What is Extraction Surgery?

There are many reasons why a tooth may need to be pulled, such as:

  • Loose or damaged teeth as a result of gum disease
  • Overcrowded teeth
  • Teeth that are severely abscessed and cannot be effectively treated with any other method
  • Preventing the spread of infection between teeth

Wisdom Teeth Extraction

Our doctors also perform wisdom tooth extractions, which becomes necessary when the third set of molars in the back of your mouth cause pain in the jaw, gums and surrounding teeth.

Wisdom teeth most commonly develop between the ages of 17 and 25 and are often removed for several reasons:

  • The jaw is not big enough for an extra set of molars
  • The teeth grow in at the wrong angle
  • They can become impacted in the jawbone or gums, causing pain
  • Because they are hard to reach with a toothbrush, they can develop decay and cavities

When to Consider Extraction Surgery

If you are experiencing tooth pain and suspect you may need to have it removed, scheduling a consultation with Dr. Hernandez can determine the best course of treatment for you.

Using comprehensive examination and advanced diagnostic methods, Dr. Hernandez will thoroughly evaluate your condition and determine if your tooth can be saved with a root canal before scheduling an extraction surgery.

The extent of surgery and amount of recovery time both depend on the type of extraction being performed and can vary from patient to patient. You will receive pre- and post-operative instructions from Dr. Hernandez about how to properly care for your surgery site after the tooth is removed.

Contact Parkwood Dental today to schedule a consultation with Dr. Hernandez and find out more about our extraction services.
